Provide an example of a differentiated task for the different groups in the class.
This activity can be used as a concluding activity to the case study. This activity is an informal assessment task and the administration of this activity can be differed, for example it can be set as a class activity or for homework. This activity requires similar application of knowledge in regards to the actual presentation; however the content and application of skills is differed for the two distinct learning groups- the higher achieving students, and the students with lower abilities in modern history.
Activity
Lower Ability Students:
Students in this group will be asked to address the following: Explain which aspects you think contributed most to the fall and decline of the Romanov dynasty.
Students are to pick a minimum of three aspects from the list below:
Nicholas as autocrat
Russo-Japanese War 1905
1905 Revolution
October Manifesto
Bloody Sunday
The Duma
World War One- Tsar’s involvement

The March Revolution

For example, "Explain the effect of the Tsar’s involvement in World War one as a major contributing factor to the fall and decline of the Romanov dynasty." All students:
All students are to create a 3-5 minute presentation using iMovie or Windows Movie Maker.
Use both primary and secondary sources to help communicate their findings.
